Serious assault sees Morriston man hospitalised and another arrested

A 41-year-old man has been taken to hospital today following the incident at Heol y Deri, Cwmrhydyceirw, in Swansea.

South Wales Police are investigating a serious assault which took place in Swansea this morning.

Following the incident, which occurred shortly before midday, officers from the force were in attendance near One Stop on Chemical Road, Morriston.

Police said the assault took place at Heol y Deri, Cwmrhydyceirw. Following the incident, a 41-year-old man has been taken to hospital but his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Another man of the same age has been arrested in connection with the incident and is currently in police custody. Residents have been told that an increased police presence will be visible in the area as investigations are carried out. 

A spokesman for South Wales Police said:

“Officers are in attendance following a serious assault which has taken place on Heol y Deri, Cwmrhydyceirw, Swansea shortly before midday.

“A 41-year-old man from Townhill has been taken to hospital. His injuries are not currently thought to be life-threatening.

“A 41-year-old man from Ynysforgan has been arrested in connection with this incident and is currently in police custody. This investigation is currently ongoing. There will be an increased police presence in the area whilst the investigation is carried out.”
