The 24-year-old Republic of Ireland forward joins the Swans for what is a significant fee, understood to be around the six million pound mark, and will wear the number 33 shirt.

The Swans have made no secret of their desire to add to their attacking options in the final third during the current transfer window, and with the signing of Idah, head coach Alan Sheehan has finally landed an important piece in improving his squad.

Idah makes the move to south Wales having won four pieces of silverware in a season-and-a-half with the Bhoys, winning two Scottish league titles, a Scottish Cup and a Scottish League Cup.

Idah scored the winner in that Scottish Cup final win over Rangers in 2024, and netted from the spot in the League Cup final shootout against the same opponents the following season.

In total he scored 29 goals in 76 appearances in all competitions for the Glasgow giants, including featuring and netting for them in the Champions League.

Idah, who has 32 caps to his name for Ireland, was born in Cork and joined the Norwich City academy as a scholar in 2017.

He progressed to first-team level – netting a hat-trick in just his third senior appearance against Preston in the FA Cup aged just 19 – and went on to make 116 appearances for the Canaries prior to his move to Scotland.

The Swans are also looking to add two more players before the transfer window shuts tonight in Strasbourg, full back Kishe Samuels-Smith, whilst a left-sided midfielder thought to be Manuel Benson is touted as a possible late deal.

Midfielders Ollie Cooper and Joel Cotterill, however, have been allowed to depart the club on loan.

25-year-old Wales international Cooper has joined Wigan Athletic, and under-21 cap Cotterill has signed for Bristol Rovers until the end of the season, with both searching for valuable first-team football.

Speaking on the signing of Idah, head coach Alan Sheehan said:

“Adam’s all-round ability and his experience at the highest level make him a quality addition to our squad, and his signing is an indication of our ambitions for the club moving forward. We are delighted to have secured his services.

“He is an ambitious young player who wants to play a big role in what we are trying to build at Swansea, and his movement and ability to stretch defences will be a real asset to us.”

Director of football Richard Montague added:

“We have wanted to add to Alan’s forward options during this window and a lot of hard work has gone in to trying to find a player who was the right person and the right fit for that role.

“Adam has a wealth of senior experience, including at the highest level of European club competition, and we expect him to make a considerable impact for Swansea City.”
