Swansea man jailed after stealing car and driving dangerously through city streets

A Swansea man has been given a 20-month prison sentence for dangerous driving and aggravated vehicle taking after leading Police on a high speed chase through the streets of the city after stealing a car.

South Wales Police say that officers, who were on patrol on Mynydd Newydd Road in Swansea on Wednesday 22nd November 2023, saw what appeared to be a vehicle being stolen in front of them.

A spokesperson for South Wales Police said: “The vehicle was followed for a short period, and immediately failed to stop as directed, being driven dangerously through roads within Swansea.

“A pursuit took place, where a short time later the vehicle went off road and was abandoned. With the use of a drone and Police helicopter, a male was sighted sitting on the riverbank.

“He was detained, identified and arrested.”

On 29 April 2024, following his guilty pleas, Craig Cullen, 39 from Swansea was sentenced for dangerous driving and aggravated vehicle taking.

He received a 20-month prison sentence and has been disqualified from driving for 65 months.
