A 17-year-old female, Casey-Leigh Thomas, was also taken to hospital with serious injuries, including a brain injury and a broken neck.
The court heard how Hammett-George has only passed his test in February 2022, however within three days he was driving dangerously.
His father, Dewi George had lied to police three months before the crash to say he was speeding in a separate incident, so his son would avoid getting points and a driving ban.
George later pleaded guilty to perverting the course of justice and was jailed for four months in July 2023.
On 31 May 2022, Hammett-George picked up friends Ben, Kasey and Kaitlyn in his Alfa Romeo car before “showing off” and driving recklessly.
After driving a speeds between 70 and 78mph on the B4436 in Bishopston on Gower, he lost control and his car smashed into a concrete pillar of a garage.
All three were thrown from the car, with police describing the aftermath as “the worst collision damage they have ever witnessed”.
Detective Sergeant Deborah Hobrough from South Wales Police said: “This was a tragic incident which saw two young people lose their lives, and another seriously injured. Rightfully the driver is about to begin a custodial sentence in prison.
“I would like to thank the family for their dignity and composure they have shown throughout the investigation.
“I hope this case highlights the risks of dangerous driving to other road users.”
