The free-entry two-day event is due to take place on July 6 and 7 with a series of world-class displays over Swansea Bay.

Whilst many people will travel to the event by car, organisers Swansea Council are encouraging visitors to walk, cycle or take the train or bus to the event with Airshow travel partners GWR, First Cymru and Transport for Wales.

Temporary road changes for the 2024 show reflect those that were in place for last summer’s highly successful event.

They will include seafront sections of Oystermouth Road and Mumbles Road, a number of roads in Sandfields plus Pantycelyn Road, Townhill. Diversions will be signposted.

Swansea Prom, from the Civic Centre to Sketty Lane, will be not be accessible to cyclists from 7am July 4 to 11pm July 9.

Emergency access will be maintained at all times and access to the Marina, Singleton Hospital and Swansea University will remain. Directly affected businesses and organisations are being notified.

Safety for all remains a key priority on what will be a busy weekend in the city. Arrangements are in place for spectator parking and access, with facilities such as park and ride in place.

Council head of cultural services Tracey McNulty said:

“We’re looking forward to welcoming many thousands of people to Swansea to enjoy the airshow – Wales’ biggest free-entry family event.

“Safety is paramount and we thank local motorists, residents and businesses for their understanding that some temporary changes have to be made to key roads in and around the event area in order to ensure this.

“It’s important for people to plan ahead for this major event – and to familiarise themselves with these changes.

“The airshow is hugely important to the city and, as for all major events of this scale, some disruption to the normal day-to-day routine activity is inevitable. We thank everybody in advance for their cooperation and understanding.”

Tens of thousands of people enjoyed the first day of Wales Airshow with displays including the Red Arrows and Typhoon Display Team over Swansea Bay.

The crowds got to visit the many ground displays and saw replica planes, including a Typhoon, and military vehicles, trade stands and entertainment stages.

This year’s airshow will feature ground displays, including a full-size replica Hurricane, live music, fun fair and the Motor Zone, and the spectacular air displays.

There’ll be a D-Day mobile museum and a range of vintage military vehicles.

The ever-popular Red Arrows (on Saturday) and RAF Typhoon (both days) are amongst the displays that are set to delight crowds.
