Teen arrested after suspicious fire in Carmarthen town centre

Police have launched an investigation after a suspicious fire broke out at a property on Mansel Street, Carmarthen, in the early hours of Monday 17 November.

The blaze, which was contained to one property close to the town centre, led to the arrest of an 18‑year‑old man on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life. He remains in hospital receiving treatment.

Mansel Street was closed while emergency services dealt with the incident. Fire investigators from Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service are working alongside Dyfed‑Powys Police to establish the cause of the blaze.

A police spokesperson said:

“An investigation is underway, with Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service investigators, to find out the cause of the fire.

The fire, which was contained to one property, is being treated as suspicious at this time.”
