Co-founders Jamie Evans (Jeeves) and Daniel Croft (Crofty) started the Virtual Darts League in 2024, giving users the chance to hit 180s from the comfort of their homes – and it’s already grown from 10 members to almost 2,500.

Players use the camera on their mobile device to livestream their dart board via an app, which also allows them to see how their opponent is faring – something that requires a fast and reliable broadband connection.

The success of the league also led to the opening of the Dart Nation shop in Swansea.

“Full Fibre has enabled us to create the largest online darts league in the world and open a darts shop for the people of the local community,” Jamie said.

“It runs everything to make the shop work. Without Full Fibre we wouldn’t have a business here.”

Martin Williams, Openreach Partnership Director for Wales, said:

“It’s fantastic to see how Full Fibre broadband is helping local entrepreneurs in Swansea turn passion into global success.

“The Virtual Darts League is a brilliant example of how reliable, high-speed connectivity can power innovation, community, and even international competition — all from the comfort of your own oche.”

Almost 100,000 properties in the Swansea area can now upgrade to Full Fibre broadband, however, just 35 per cent have done so, meaning many are missing out.

Full Fibre technology offers a faster, more reliable connection that keeps up with the demands of today’s digital world.

Whether streaming your favourite show, gaming online, making a video call, managing your finances, or running a business, full fibre keeps everything running smoothly.

Packages from the widest range of broadband providers are also increasingly competitively priced, meaning people may pay similar, or even less, per month than their current bill for a much-improved service.

Openreach’s full fibre network now reaches more than 20 million properties, and the company plans to extend this to 25 million homes and businesses by the end of 2026, with a belief it can reach as many as 30 million by the end of the decade – with the right investment conditions.
