Winning lorry design brings a festive flavour to the roads this Christmas

South Wales food wholesaler, Castell Howell have announced the winning design of their Christmas lorry design competition.

Martin Jones, Castell Howell Transport Director said: “As a family business we head into the festive season with hope. We’re determined not let Christmas loose it’s sparkle, so we asked primary schools across the country to draw their very best Christmas pictures for a chance to see their design on our annual Christmas lorry.

“We thank each and every one of you for taking part. And it’s fair to say that picking the winner from the thousands of entries was extremely tough.”

Sofia Pletsus-Reba aged 8 from Ysgol Gynradd Nantgaredig, along with her classmates were surprised with a special unveiling of the company’s truck decorated in her winning design.

Castell Howell were recently celebrating themselves, as they were named ‘Regional Wholesaler of the Year’ for 2020 at The Grocer Gold Awards. The magazine described the Cross Hands based wholesaler as “a really well-run business for a number of years: smart, progressive, passionate and caring”.

Despite the pandemic Castell Howell has continued to support the community, most recently manufacturing gloves and aprons for health and care workers for the NHS and local councils as well as delivering food boxes.

This Christmas for the first time, Castell Howell have launched a home delivery service for the public. With deliveries made to 27 post codes, and contactless deliveries, you can take a look at their Christmas order catalogue on their website.
