The restaurant promises a menu inspired by Evans’ MasterChef win, featuring seasonal Welsh dishes and locally sourced produce. In a video shared on social media, Evans said the venue would offer “MasterChef dishes on the menu” and a “fabulous warm welcome”, inviting diners to come and experience his take on Welsh hospitality.
The Welsh House team said they were “thrilled” to welcome Evans as a partner, describing him as a “passionate champion of Welsh food, drink and culture.” The venue is located in a prime spot in Carmarthen’s town centre and is expected to become a flagship for the brand’s commitment to regional produce and traditional recipes.
Wynne Evans said: “This is my hometown of Carmarthen. It is ever-changing and one thing that is changing is The Welsh House. It’s going to become The Welsh House by Wynne. I promise you it will have MasterChef dishes on the menu, it’s going to have a fabulous warm welcome and I want you to come and see me, OK?”
The restaurant’s transformation follows a challenging period for Evans, who parted ways with the BBC earlier this year. However, the new venture marks a fresh start, with Evans reportedly investing in the venue and planning to bring his culinary flair to the kitchen.
A source close to the venture said: “He paid The Welsh House to take over their existing space. It’s a prime location in the centre of Carmarthen. He is trying to capitalise on his MasterChef win apparently.”
The Welsh House by Wynne is expected to open later this summer, with Evans already teasing menu development and interior updates. The venue will also continue to champion Carmarthenshire producers, including Caws Cenarth, Mario’s Ice Cream, and Carmarthen Ham.

Well we won’t be going there
