The event, themed Arts for Advocacy, was made possible by the hard work of local organiser Marelie Mey, whose vision brought together community members, businesses, and artists for a night of creativity and fundraising.
The evening featured performances from local artists, including Justine Afante, winner of The Voice UK 2020, and showcased an array of artwork donated by local talent. A creative draw-along activity added to the atmosphere, making it a unique and engaging experience for attendees. Auctions and raffles, with prizes donated by local businesses, were highlights of the evening, featuring:

- A rustic lodge stay by Fairyhill
- A luxury getaway at the Swansea Marriott Hotel
- Tickets and merchandise from Swansea City Football Club
Through the combined efforts of ticket sales, raffles, and auctions, the event raised £9,130. Fairyhill generously contributed additional funds to reach the £10,000 milestone.
Marelie Mey commented:
“This event was about bringing the community together to support the vital work of Swansea Women’s Aid. Every contribution, from the artists who donated their work to the businesses that supported us, played a part in this incredible achievement. It’s a testament to the power of collective effort.”
The funds raised will directly benefit Swansea Women’s Aid in its mission to provide life-saving services and raise awareness about the widespread issue of domestic abuse, which affects one in four families.
A representative from Fairyhill added:
“We were delighted to support this event and play a role in helping Swansea Women’s Aid continue their critical work. The event’s success reflects the dedication of everyone involved, particularly Marelie and the SWA team.”
Fairyhill’s upcoming cheque handover ceremony will celebrate the achievement and highlight Swansea Women’s Aid’s commitment to creating a safer community for women and families.
