Edwards was a replacement in last weekend’s win over the Lions having been absent since a head injury in October.

Jac Morgan captains a side that also sees lock Will Spencer make his debut, having signed from Northampton as cover for injured Wales lock Adam Beard

Gareth Thomas, Dewi Lake, and Ben Warren all start in an unchanged front row to last week’s win.

Spencer partners Lewis Jones at lock. Tristan Davies lines up at six, Morgan takes up the other flank and Morgan Morris starts at eight.

Kieran Hardy is preferred to Reuben Morgan-Williams at scrum half, with Edwards in the ten jersey. Owen Williams shifts across to centre to partner Owen Watkin.

In the back three, Jack Walsh starts at full back, with Dan Kasende and Keelan Giles starting on the wings.

Will Griffiths and Rhys Henry all return to take up places on the bench following respective injury layoffs.

Montpellier are ninth in France’s Top 14, with four wins and seven losses. They are twice-winners of the European Challenge Cup having lifted the trophy in 2021 and 2016.

Head coach Toby Booth said:

“Europe has always been an important focus for us. We’ve had some strong campaigns in the Investec Champions Cup and the EPCR Challenge Cup in recent years and have had some memorable wins on the way.

“This game is a great opportunity for us to build some momentum as we look ahead to the rest of the season.”
