Based on the novel The Price You Pay by Nick Harkaway, writing under the pseudonym Aidan Truhen, the eight-part series will begin filming in March, with locations including Swansea, Bilbao, Lisbon, and London.
Zeta-Jones, 55, will take on the lead role of Jackie Price in the eight-part series, a former international cocaine dealer who has spent two decades living under the radar.
By day, she’s an elite art dealer, leveraging tax loopholes to stay out of trouble, but her peaceful existence comes crashing down when she learns that The Seven Demons—a notorious squad of elite assassins—have been hired to kill her.
Suspecting someone from her past is behind the hit, Jackie taps into her old, dangerous instincts, launching a lethal mission to eliminate the killers before they reach her. But as she hunts them down, she unearths a chilling truth: the real threat lies closer to home, forcing her to confront long-buried secrets with unexpected consequences.
In addition to starring in the series, the Chicago actress will also serve as an executive producer.
Speaking about the project, Zeta-Jones expressed her excitement and said:
“I’m thrilled to be a part of Kill Jackie, both behind and in front of the camera.
“The opportunity to bring this multifaceted character to life, and explore a female-driven plot that encompasses empowerment, identity, and redemption is something I’m looking forward to.”
The series, co-produced by Fremantle and Steel Springs Pictures, is expected to be released in 2026, though an official date has yet to be confirmed.
Hannah Blyth, Head of TV, Prime Video UK said:
“Kill Jackie is a thrilling series and we are excited to be working with Catherine Zeta-Jones and the incredible creative team to bring this story to life.
“With its bold storytelling, striking visual style, and unexpected twists, the series is set to captivate Prime Video audiences internationally – we can’t wait for them to experience it.”
The production will be helmed by Killing Eve director Damon Thomas, with Gangs of London’s Tom Butterworth as writer and showrunner. Butterworth remarked that their goal is to transform Harkaway’s novel into something “equally funny, dark, crazed, and unique, or die trying”.
Set for premiere on Prime Video in several international markets, including the UK, Germany, and Canada, Kill Jackie is shaping up to be one of the most captivating new thrillers of the year, blending high-stakes action, psychological depth, and an electrifying lead performance from Zeta-Jones.
