Following the success of An Evening of Scott Gibbs and Neil Jenkins last April, The Platinum Room returns for An Evening with The Greatest Player ever to don a Welsh jersey, Sir Gareth Edwards.
On Saturday 13 September (7pm) in the Arts Wing of Swansea Grand Theatre, the night will be hosted by the brilliant Mal Pope, with entertainment also provided by comedian Lenny Dee.
77-year-old Pontadawe-born Edwards has had an illustrious career earning 53 caps for his country over a 11-year period where he was part of the Welsh side that won eight Five Nations titles including three Grand Slams – a period known as Wales’ second golden era.

Edwards also stared for the British & Irish Lions, starting every Test of the series victories over New Zealand in 1971 and South Africa in 1974.
In 2007, Edwards became a CBE for services to sport. He was knighted in the Queen’s Birthday Honours of 2015, for his services to sport and to charity.
With many enthralling tales to be told, the evening highlight will surely be the story of when Edwards scored what is widely regarded as the ‘greatest try in history’.
Though there were many memorable games and moments, one match that will forever be remembered will be his breathtaking score which came during the opening moments of the Barbarians vs the All Blacks test in 1973.
Come and join in an evening of laughter and rugby tales and hear the detail of that day from the man himself.
