The Swans would be slow out of the blocks, while Rovers, looking to bounce back from back-to-back defeats, would go close with midfielder Todd Cantwell shooting into the side netting in the opening exchanges.
It would be a warning not taken as the home side would score what proved to be the only goal of the game.
Forward Makhtae Gueye was first to react after a Cantwell corner wasn’t cleared by the Swans defence, with striker partner Tyrhys Dolan claiming the final touch diverting the ball past a helpless Lawrence Vigouroux.

In response, a spate of Josh Key surging runs would see several dangerous balls put into the box, but the goal-shy Swans would struggle to convert as chances went begging.
Despite dominating possession, Blackburn would look the most likely to double their lead before half-time with Ryan Hedges flashing a drive just wide of the post.
Liam Cullen should have done better heading over after the break when well-placed and Gonçalo Franco’s half-volley would go inches wide as the Swans improved their delivery in the final third.
Williams’ side would not find a way through the Rovers backline leaving the Swans boss disappointed after a fourth blank in front of goal away from home this season in five outings.

“I think the game probably should be a draw,” said Williams after the match. “The frustration is with the way that we started the game.
“We looked slow out of the blocks and didn’t assert ourselves on the game and got to grips with it too late so that’s disappointing.
“On this occasion perhaps, we suffered from the [international] break.
“If I’m honest we missed Eom today. We missed him a lot. He’s been a key player for us, and we need to adjust quickly.
“We have to be more ruthless in front of goal. Half chances are sometimes better chances than they look and often opportunities don’t amount to what they should do.
“We have to improve on that. We can then turn draws into victories and defeats into draws.
“I think to have significantly more of the ball and more shots than the opposition away from home is very tough.
“There are positive signs with the overall performance, but the game is about goals, and we need to improve on that and be ruthless.”
