A spokesperson for Swansea-based Travel House said: “One of our longest-serving and most-loved team members, Chelsea Mills, who has worked with us for over 13 years, is currently facing an unimaginable personal battle. Her fiancé, Dan Williams, has been diagnosed with an aggressive and rare form of Stage 4 melanoma, and after exhausting NHS treatment options, he urgently needs access to alternative treatment abroad to survive.
“Dan’s cancer journey began in 2022 after the disease was found in his spine, narrowly avoiding paralysis. After initial treatment and a period of recovery, the cancer sadly spread to his lung, and then to his liver. Despite trying immunotherapy, Dan is no longer responding to treatment, and the NHS has now run out of viable options.
“But there is still hope. Innovative treatments abroad — including tumour-infiltrating lymphocyte therapy, liver-directed therapies, and advanced clinical trials — could offer Dan a real chance. These treatments, however, require urgent funding, travel, and specialist access. The campaign aims to raise £50,000, but the final amount may be higher depending on the treatment path.
“We’ve launched a company-wide fundraiser across all our branches to help raise the £50,000+ needed for Dan’s treatment, and we’re hoping that, with your support, we can help spread the word to reach more people in the community and beyond. “
Explaining the fundraiser they have set up, Dan’s friends said: “Dan has been battling a rare and aggressive melanoma (stage 4) since late 2022. The disease originated in his spine, where it nearly caused paralysis. After emergency surgery and radiotherapy, he remained stable and regained strength and full fitness through 2023.
“In early 2024, metastases were confirmed in the lung, followed by progression to the liver by the end of the year. He was placed on immunotherapy but unfortunately showed no response. As of early 2025, the cancer has spread extensively within the liver. Surgery, ablation, and radiotherapy have been ruled out as options by his NHS team. He has now been advised to explore options wider afield as options within the NHS are now limited
“Despite this, at the moment Dan is still physically well. He’s active, optimistic and determined to fight. But the tumour in his liver is growing fast, and without intervention, liver failure is a near-term guarantee.
“There are still real options. Globally, there are advanced treatments that could help: tumour-infiltrating lymphocyte therapy, oncolytic virus trials, and liver-directed radiation or chemotherapy techniques to name a few. These require urgent referrals and travel to centres in the UK or futher afield potentially with centres being identified in EU, Israel or the US.
“We’ve set the goal at £50,000, but the truth is it may need to be more. The priority is making sure Dan can move fast and without constraint.
“This fund will be used for consultations, treatment access, travel, accommodation and specialist referrals; whatever is required to give Dan all the chances he needs to fight this.
“Dan has a brilliant family, a big group of lifelong mates and the love of a beautiful fiancée who he is due to marry in 2026 – oh and a cute little sausage dog called Rooney. He has absolutely everything to live for!”
“Dan is still physically well, optimistic, and ready to fight,” Dan’s fiancée Chelsea added. “We just need to give him the chance.”
