More traders in Swansea’s award-winning indoor market are looking forward to welcoming customers from Monday.
Restrictions on non-essential retail are being relaxed from April 12 allowing more stalls to open.
Arrangements are in place to keep traders and shoppers as safe as possible and visitors are reminded they must wear face coverings unless medically exempt and they should continue to observe the two-metre social distancing rule as well as regularly sanitise their hands.
During lockdown around traders 20 ‘essential’ traders have continued to serve customers at the market with many also offering online and delivery options.
Lisa Wells, City Centre Manager in Swansea, said re-opening the indoor market was a welcome move.
She said: “Some of the food businesses based at the Market have kept their customers supplied during the pandemic through their online order and delivery services.
“I want to pay tribute to them for being there for the people of Swansea and wish all traders well on the gradual re-opening of the city centre.
“Our number one priority is to do all we can to keep customers and traders safe from the chances of Coronavirus transmission by observing the rules that are in place to keep us all safe.”
The City Centre Rangers have continued to work and support the city centre throughout the Tier 4 lockdown.
They will be on hand to advise visitors and businesses, reminding them of the importance of adhering to COVID safety measures.
Swansea Council’s Licencing team will continue to work with Trading Standards and South Wales Police to ensure safety measures are being followed.
