Much-loved Gorseinon man dies a month after alleged assault at hotel

Kelvin Evans, 64, was taken to hospital after being assaulted on 26 May at The Station Hotel known locally as ‘The Gyp’ in Gorseinon, Swansea.

Police had charged 39-year-old Christopher Cooper, from Swansea’s Maritime Quarter with assault with intent to commit grievous bodily harm (GBH), whilst a 54-year-old woman from Swansea was also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and remains on police bail pending further enquiries.

In a joint statement his family said:

“We are devastated at the tragic and senseless loss of our wonderful, loving, funny son, brother, uncle, and friend to so many.

“We are trying to come to terms with this whole situation and ask that we are given time to grieve in private as a family,” they added in a statement.”

South Wales Police are continuing to appeal for any witnesses to the incident who were either inside the Station Hotel or outside the property and who may have seen anything to contact them.
