British and Irish Lions back North, was carried off the field in the 79th minute of Wales’ 24-21 defeat against Italy at the Principality Stadium last weekend.
In what would be the 31-year-old’s last game for his nation of birth, it will go down as a somber finish to a player who has given so much over a trophy-laden international career stretching over 14-years.
North made his international debut in 2010 and won two Grand Slams and four Six Nations titles, and played at four World Cups, making two semi-finals, also making three Test appearances for the British and Irish Lions.
With a significant recovery mooted, it is unlikely the North will play again for Ospreys before joining French second tier side Provence in the summer.
North joined the Ospreys from Northampton in 2018 and has made 48 appearances over five seasons at the Welsh region scoring 14 tries.
An integral part of the squad, North will be missed at the club, with the Ospreys commenting on X that they would like to wish George all the best and thank the 121-cap Welshman for his time spent spent at the club.
