The event, held over 14-17 August in central Scotland, saw 15 Phantom team members take part in the prestigious tournament over the weekend.
Fifteen Phantoms represented Wales in the 35s and 40s men’s division and two in the women’s 40s category representing the Eurostars team – which involved players from a range of nations.
Following games against the Wales men’s 35s, England, Scotland, and France, the Wales 40s team secured the top spot at the table and were unbeaten before facing the England 40s team in the final, where they came away with Silver.
Neil Pugsley, who represented Wales in the 40s team and started up The Phantoms, said:
“It was a great weekend in Stirling and we were delighted to have 15 Phantoms take part. Each of our Phantom players did themselves, their local rugby clubs, and us proud.
“Representing Wales in the 40s team and to beat the England 40s team in the round robin stage was an absolute highlight. Unfortunately it just wasn’t our day in the final losing to them 8-5, but to come second overall and receive silver was such an achievement.”
The Phantoms touch rugby team began back in 2024 originally as a men’s only team, however it was then expanded in 2025 to include women, and this September will also be starting a youth team. The Phantoms is affiliated with the Wales Touch Association (WTA) – who is responsible for the governance and development of Touch in Wales.
Neil added that it had been a busy year for the team – entering all three competitive Wales Touch Association tournaments (including men’s and mixed teams) as well as entering two teams (The Phantoms and The Phantoms Rising) in the Ospreys In the Community Defender League in Swansea.
“We have gone from strength to strength over the past 12 months and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for us as a team – which currently stands at around 50 members,” said Neil.
“Touch rugby has grown massively across the Swansea Bay region over the last couple of years and it has been great to see so many more men, women and youngsters get involved in this sport.”
The Phantoms Juniors will be holding a session on Sunday 7 September in Margam, Port Talbot. This will be for those aged between 10 and 18. Please message The Phantoms via social media to express an interest in attending.
This year The Phantoms has received support from the Pen Y Cymoedd Community Fund and Sport Wales.
