The 25-year-old Polish international will further strengthen head coach Luke Williams’ options on the flanks following the arrivals of Ronald and Charles Sagoe Jr.
The left-sided speedster will wear the number 17 shirt and much like the Brazilian and Arsenal youngster, will fit into the mold of Williams’ plans for an athletic and pacey attack.
Having started his career in Poland, Placheta featured in Germany with RB Leipzig and Sonnenhof Großaspach before returning to his homeland signing for Pogon Siedlce, Podbeskidzie and later Slask Wroclaw.
Championship experience was then gained at Norwich City as they secured promotion to the Premier League and later at Birmingham City on loan last term only for injury to end his spell at St Andrew’s prematurely.
This season Placheta has made 19 appearances for the Canaries but after falling out of favour at Carrow Road, a move to South Wales has suited both parties.
Aberdeen midfielder Connor Barron, 21, is another player who was on Swansea’s radar as the deadline approached, but no deal was agreed with the Scottish club.
Barron could be a target once more come the summer, when his Aberdeen contract expires.
Meanwhile, Championship strugglers Sheffield Wednesday have completed the loan signing of Swans defender Kristian Pederson on loan until the end of the season.
The Danish international has fallen down the pecking order at the club since the arrival of head-coach Luke Williams and is deemed surplus to requirements just six months after signing from FC Cologne.
