Early morning property fire closes Brynmill’s King Edward Road
A busy residential street in the Swansea suburb of Brynmill was closed this morning after a fire broke out at a housing association owned property.

Fire crews from across the city and as far away as Port Talbot were called to the property where “large volumes of smoke” were seen coming from the building.
King Edward Road was closed by police from the junctions of St Helens Crescent, Bay View Crescent and Brynymor Road, however was reopened around 8.15am.
The three-storey building is understood to belong to a housing association.
A spokesperson from Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: “At 6.16am on Wednesday, May 22nd, Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service crews from Swansea Central, Swansea West and Port Talbot Fire Stations were called to an incident on King Edward’s Road in Swansea.
“Crews responded to a fire in a flat within a three-storey property, with large volumes of smoke issuing from the property.
“Crews utilised four breathing apparatus sets, two hose reel jets, one safety jet, one covering jet, one positive pressure ventilation fan and two thermal imaging cameras to extinguish the fire.
“This incident required a multi-agency response, with the property’s housing association and South Wales Police also in attendance.
A spokesman for South Wales Police said:
“Shortly before 6.30am today emergency services were called concerning a fire at a flat at an address on King Edward Road, Brynmill in Swansea.
“A local road closure was put in place which was lifted shortly after 8.00am. There are no reports of any injuries. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.”
“Crews left the scene at 8.13am.”
