The emergency closure is in place on Bryn Llidiard, between Litchard Hill and Cross Street, while engineers investigate the cause of the collapse.
Bridgend County Borough Council said the school remains open as normal, but there is no vehicle access from Bryn Llidiard and local congestion is expected. Parents and carers have been contacted directly.
A council spokesperson said:
“An emergency road closure is in place on Bryn Llidiard outside Litchard Primary School due to a sinkhole. The cause is currently being investigated. While the road is closed to traffic, the school is open as normal. Parents/carers are being asked to walk children to and from school. We will update with more information once further details have been confirmed.”
Resident Alexa Ali, who lives nearby, said the hole appeared on Monday afternoon.
“The road collapsed after a car drove past. With the school, and the congestion we get around here, it’s making things worse — so hopefully it does get sorted soon,” she said.
The council has not yet confirmed how long the closure will remain in place.
