A Penlan man who offered a woman a lift home after a night out has been jailed for seven years for raping her.

Caeran Evans, 27, attacked the woman in October 2024, South Wales Police said. He pleaded guilty to sexual assault at Swansea Crown Court in December 2025 but denied rape, and a jury found him guilty on 16 September.

Later that night a video was recorded and shared on messaging groups showing Evans taking drugs that had been placed on the woman’s body while she appeared to be asleep, police said. Sexually degrading words had also been written on her body.

‘He knew he was being filmed and still carried on’

Detective Inspector Meirian Evans said: “Caeran Evans took advantage of his intoxicated victim in a heinous and calculated way.

“That he knew he was being filmed and still carried on for some kind of perverse self-gratification only makes the situation unimaginably more abhorrent.

“Thankfully, the court saw through his protestations and the guilty verdict and seven-year sentence shows that justice has been achieved for the victim.”

The detective inspector added: “We commend her on her bravery in coming forward to report what Caeran Evans did to her, and hope that she can now begin to move on with her life.”

A restraining order for 15 years

Alongside the prison term, Evans was made the subject of a restraining order protecting the woman for 15 years.

The force said it never underestimated how difficult it was for survivors of sexual abuse to speak out, but hoped cases like this one showed that victims would be listened to, treated with dignity and respect, and supported throughout the court process.

Anyone who has been sexually abused and is not yet ready to report to police can find information and support services on the South Wales Police website. “Please don’t suffer in silence,” the force said.
