Stephen Eustáquio and Josh Key will miss Swansea City’s home game with Norwich City on Saturday, head coach Vitor Matos has confirmed.
Eustáquio came back from international duty with a shoulder problem after playing for Canada against Chile, Peru and the USA.
Key has not played since the hamstring injury he suffered against Burnley, and missed the trip to Lincoln.
Matos said: “Josh is still on the rehab plan, and Stephen, as everyone knows, had a situation with his shoulder.”
He added: “He will not be available for tomorrow, but let’s see for the further matches. At the moment, the picture looks okay. But let’s go step by step.”
Ross Stewart back for the Swans
There was better news on Ross Stewart, who is available again after recovering from a long-term quad injury.
Matos said: “Everyone else is looking good. Players are arriving back step by step.”
“A lot of them have had game time and long travels, so at the moment we’re assessing everyone, seeing how everyone is, and then getting ready for the game.”
Swansea could be knocked off the top before kick-off
Swansea went top with the win at Lincoln before the international break, but could start Saturday in second place.
West Ham play QPR tonight (8pm), and a win would take the Hammers above the Swans.
Matos’ side have 17 points from their opening eight games, with five wins, two draws and one defeat. That is their best start since 2019-20, when they also had 17 points.
Norwich arrive with the Championship’s leakiest defence
Norwich have conceded 17 goals, more than any other side in the Championship.
They have lost their last two games 4-3, to Middlesbrough and Bolton.
That makes them the first side in England’s top four tiers to lose back-to-back league games despite scoring three goals in each, since Newcastle in December 2012.
Kick-off at the Swansea.com Stadium is 12.30pm on Saturday.
