Port Talbot actor and activist Michael Sheen is to appear in the second series of The Celebrity Traitors, the BBC’s blockbuster spin-off of the hit reality game show, joining a star-studded cast of 21 famous faces heading to the infamous Scottish castle later this year.

The BBC confirmed the full line-up on Saturday morning, revealing an eclectic mix of actors, comedians, broadcasters and presenters who will compete for a cash prize of up to £100,000 for a charity of their choice. Joining Sheen are EastEnders and Ross Kemp on Gangs star Ross Kemp, Last of Us actor Bella Ramsey, Industry actress Myha’la, Saltburn star Richard E Grant and model Jerry Hall.

Comedians make up a sizeable chunk of the new series, with James Acaster, Joe Lycett, Romesh Ranganathan, Rob Beckett and Joanne McNally all taking part. They face singer-songwriter James Blunt, former Little Mix star Leigh-Anne Pinnock, actress Miranda Hart, Love Island presenter Maya Jama and broadcaster Amol Rajan.

Scottish actress Sharon Rooney, Coronation Street star Julie Hesmondhalgh, mathematician and broadcaster Professor Hannah Fry, content creator King Kenny and actor Sebastian Croft complete the line-up.

Sheen has been one of Wales’s most visible cultural figures in recent years, having previously signed up to host a BBC quiz show in a surprise career move. He also leads the cast of the Welsh National Theatre’s West End transfer of Amadeus alongside Pontypridd’s Callum Scott Howells.

The Celebrity Traitors will air on BBC One and iPlayer, hosted once again by Claudia Winkleman. The game follows the celebrity contestants – the majority of whom are faithfuls – as they try to identify the murderous traitors among them, who secretly eliminate players overnight.

The first celebrity series debuted on BBC One and iPlayer in October 2025 and became the biggest television event of the year, averaging 14.9 million viewers across its run with a peak of 15.4 million for the finale – the top entertainment episode across the whole market since 2016.

Swansea viewers will remember Fiona Hughes, the city’s own contestant in Series 4 of The Traitors in January 2026, who was ultimately banished in a dramatic round table showdown before later being revealed as a real-life lifesaver who had helped a woman escape abuse and sex work. Series 4 of The Traitors averaged 12.5 million viewers over 28 days – up 22% on Series 3.

Sheen’s appearance in The Celebrity Traitors comes at a busy time for the actor. Good Omens 3, in which he stars alongside David Tennant, debuts on Amazon Prime Video on 13 May – just days away. The third series picks up after the fractured friendship between Sheen’s angel Aziraphale and Tennant’s demon Crowley, with Aziraphale now serving as Supreme Archangel and tasked with overseeing the Second Coming, while a heartbroken Crowley is left wandering the streets of Soho.
