Edwards, 20, scored as a replacement in the 31-9 win against Scarlets and is one of nine personnel changes for the trip to Treviso as Wales international Owen Williams returns to the bench.
“Dan [Edwards] is in a great place at the minute and has come in off the back of confidence after scoring on the weekend,” said Fussell.
“There will be plenty of opportunities for Dan with the size of the squads we have got.
“For him to be around people like Owen Williams, who he can learn so much from is great.
“He has an outstanding running game and is probably one of the quickest 10’s about with his acceleration we have seen on the weekend. He has also a great kicking game as well.
“He has all the ingredients to reach that potential [Welsh international]. It’s for him now to take ownership and reach that in his game at the Ospreys and push on as much as he can.
“There are a lot of new fresh faces out there in Welsh Rugby, a lot of young talent which is great for Welsh development.
“We have a few boys in there like Dan and Morgan Morse who are both really good prospects coming through and it’s really exciting to see them come through.
The Ospreys will travel to face the high-flying Italians full of confidence that they can back up the result against their fierce local rivals despite naming a young side to continue their bright start to the campaign.
“We’ve had a positive vibe around the group. To be fair it has been like that for the majority of the season so far, continued Fussell.
“We have a vibrant group, and everyone is buying into the culture and the way that we want to play.
“It was great for us to win last weekend to put us back on track and into a positive mindset for Benetton.
“It was a great response. The boys put in a shift and fought for each other, which was pleasing. For us to come away with a win was brilliant.
“Benetton are a good side at the minute. They are sixth in the league with four wins, a draw and a loss.
“They have points on the board, the same as that of fourth position, so are sitting pretty at the top end of the table.
“They are a good big and strong outfit. They will be hard to break down, so we know the task and challenge in front of us.
“For us, the task is to make sure we back up what we did last week and build on the performances that we are showing at the minute.
“You look at the games they’ve played this season, they have been in them all for 80 minutes. We are well aware of that, so we know the kind of performance that we need to do on the weekend but It’s all to play for.”
