A Turkish dental clinic is to hold a free information event in Swansea for people considering dental treatment abroad, or helping a family member weigh it up.
Ballıpınar Dental Clinic, which treats international patients at its centre in Antalya, will hold the meet-up on Saturday 12 September. Places are booked in advance through the clinic’s website, with the venue and time confirmed to attendees when they book.
The session is aimed at adults researching overseas dentistry and is strictly information-only. No dental examinations, X-rays, diagnoses, prescriptions, personalised treatment plans, quotations or clinical advice will be provided on the day.
Members of the clinic’s team will explain how an international patient journey may be organised, the questions to ask before travelling, the importance of informed consent, and the aftercare arrangements the clinic says should be clarified in writing.
Visitors will also be able to hear general information about the treatments available at the Antalya centre, including implants, crowns, veneers and full-mouth restoration.
“We know that considering treatment abroad can bring a long list of questions,” said owner Rıdvan Ballıpınar, a dentist qualified and practising in Türkiye.
“The Swansea meet-up is designed simply to provide clear, general information about how care in Antalya may be organised, what people should check and why an individual clinical assessment remains essential.”
The clinic says its roots date back to 1975, with its international patient operations centred in Antalya and a wider network extending to Afyonkarahisar, Sandıklı and Emirdağ.
It says bilingual coordinators support communication with international patients, and that treatment planning may involve dental laboratory support, CAD-CAM systems and 3D imaging, depending on a patient’s clinical needs.
The session will also set out the limits of any discussion before travel. Photographs or existing dental images can help frame an initial conversation with the clinical team in Türkiye, the clinic says, but they cannot replace an in-person examination of the teeth, gums, bite and supporting structures.
Any final treatment plan, timescale and price, along with a discussion of alternatives, risks and aftercare, would follow a separate clinical assessment in Türkiye.
“Nobody attending will be examined, diagnosed or given a personal treatment recommendation,” Mr Ballıpınar added. “We want the event to help people understand the process and ask better-informed questions, not to present general information as a substitute for a dental appointment.”
The clinic advises anyone considering dental care overseas to check who will diagnose and treat them, why each procedure is proposed, what alternatives exist, what the quoted price includes, and how complaints, follow-up care and any remedial treatment would be handled. It says independent advice from a UK dentist can provide useful context before any decision is made.
