Man arrested after motorcyclist killed in collision with car on Afan Valley Road


Police are appealing for information following the fatal road traffic collision on the A4107 Brytwn Road in Neath at around 4.25pm yesterday (Tuesday 7 September)
A 41 year-old local man driving a blue Yamaha motorcycle and a silver Ford Focus car were in collision along the A4107, commonly known as the Afan Valley Road, near Cymmer Afan.
Police report that despite the best efforts of emergency services, the man was pronounced deceased at the scene – his next of kin is aware and is being supported by officers.
The road was closed for several hours while officers carried out investigations at the scene. It has since been reopened.
The 43 year-old man driving the silver Ford Focus was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and is currently in police custody.
South Wales Police want to hear from anyone who witnessed, or has footage of the collision, or the manner in which either vehicle were being driven prior to the collision.
