Honours even as Swans share entertaining draw with Robins

In an entertaining contest, Cabango’s 14th-minute header from Eom Ji Sung’s corner had put the Swans in the early ascendancy. It would be a lead the Swans would hold until the last 15 minutes of the match.

Knight’s thunderous header from Scott Twine’s pin-point set-piece though would put the visitors level and earn a point with the draw a fair result on the day.

Swansea boss Luke Williams would make two changes in his starting eleven from the side that triumphed 2-1 over Coventry City at Coventry Building Society Arena last weekend. Defender Kyle Naughton coming into the backline for Josh Key, whilst forward Žan Vipotnik replaced Liam Cullen who dropped out of the squad with illness in attack.

Both sides would have chances to win the match in an entertaining contest with home stopper Lawrence Vigoroux the busier of the two goalkeepers. The Chilean saved spectacularly from Twine’s close-range snapshot and twice denied pacey forward Sinclair Armstrong when well placed.

The Swans, however, would have the lion’s share of possession in an open game. With South Korean attacker Eom at the heart of their best-attacking forays, Williams’ side would have good openings themselves to add further to the scoreline.

The best of them coming to powerful Portuguese midfielder Goncalo Franco who clattered a drive stinging the palms of Max O’Leary, whilst Ollie Cooper clipped the base of the Robins post blocking Zak Vyner’s clearance.

The Robins equaliser would be deserved for a dominant spell in the second half. It would come from again a set-piece scenario with Knight’s thunderous header from Twine’s pin-point corner putting the visitors level. 

Both sides threw men forward with Ronald going close for the Swans in search of a winner but it would be to be for the Swans who would have to settle for a hard-fought point.

The result leaves Williams’ side in ninth place in the table, two points off the play-off placings ahead of a trip to sixth-placed Sheffield United on Wednesday night.
