Peel was able to welcome back skipper Josh Macleod, Wales international Ryan Elias, and Aussie back-rower Max Douglas for the clash with Glasgow. Whilst returning centre Eddie James also showed a physical edge in midfield, as all played big parts in a morale-boosting triumph on home soil.

Captain Macleod was back to his tenacious best at the breakdown on his return from a pectoral injury, whilst Elias, making his first appearance of the season carried strongly.

The Wales front row was also at the heart of a pack that controlled the scrum exchanges as the Scarlets won the physical battle against the more fancied Scottish outfit.

“To get those boys back in amongst the group is massive for us,” said Peel in his post-match conference.

“We’ve worked hard over the last couple of weeks, it’s nice to get some senior players back in the group, you could see the leadership they bring especially in the forward pack, and we had Eddy James in the backline as well.

“I’m happy for everyone because we obviously haven’t had the best start to the season.

“I’m really pleased with our two wingers; they chased kicks and were really efficient. It’s an overall performance we can be happy with.

“Glasgow are a powerful side. I thought we did the basics well, chased well, kicked well, turned over ball, and took points when we needed to. Scoreboard pressure is huge in those conditions.

“We managed to force some errors, and we stuck in there when Glasgow had a lot of territory in the second half.”
