Swansea City have completed their second signing in a matter of hours, bringing in defender Jenson Seelt on loan from Sunderland.
The 23-year-old Dutch centre-back joins for the remainder of the 2026-27 season, subject to clearance, and will wear the number three shirt.
His arrival caps a rapid double deal day at SA1, coming hot on the heels of Stephen Eustáquio’s move from Porto, and both new faces could make their debuts in Saturday’s Championship trip to Derby County.
At 6ft 3in, Seelt brings Premier League and Championship experience from his time with the Black Cats, along with spells in the Eredivisie with PSV Eindhoven and the Bundesliga with Wolfsburg.
Head coach Vitor Matos said: “Jenson is a talented young player, and he will provide us with valuable depth in our defensive options.
“He brings physicality and aerial dominance, but also a composure on the ball and ability to read the game. We are happy he will spend the rest of the season with us and we look forward to integrating him into the squad.”
‘An exciting prospect’
Sporting director Ben Stevens said: “Jenson is an exciting prospect who has already played in the Championship, Eredivisie, Bundesliga and Premier League.
“He is a centre-back whose ability on the ball and physical presence fits our team’s requirements, and we look forward to seeing him in a Swansea shirt.”
The loan adds cover at the back of a squad reshaped through the summer, with Stephen Welsh and Moussa Yeo arriving early in the window before Elijah Just’s move from Motherwell.
Thursday’s double swoop takes that business deep into the window’s final days, with a summer recruitment drive that has stretched from New Zealand to Canada via Portugal and Scotland.
For Matos, the timing matters: two additions in a day, both in contention for Pride Park, and each answering a different question in his squad.
Saturday could now see two debuts in white, a new number three at the back and a new number 46 in the middle.
