There’s more competitive National Hunt racing at Ffos Las Racecourse this Sunday, with seven races across the afternoon: two over fences, one bumper and four over hurdles.
The action starts at 12.50pm with a two-mile novices’ hurdle, and runs through to a two-mile handicap chase at 4.12pm.
Read on for a preview of and tips for the Ffos Las card, brought to you by BetVictor Online Casino.
12.50: Two-mile novices’ hurdle
Tap Tap Shamie showed improved form when fourth, beaten four and a quarter lengths, on his handicap debut at Perth last time, having been hampered late when tiring.
With home favourite Sean Bowen in the saddle, he should come on for that outing, and he is an interesting contender back in novice company with a first-time hood.
Ink Black Heart ran to the balance of his form when third in a bumper at Exeter last time, and could improve for the switch to hurdles. He represents a top yard in the Skeltons and is open to further progress.
Lirion showed some promise on his hurdles debut when fourth, beaten nine and a quarter lengths, in a maiden hurdle at Ayr. He should come on for that experience and, although he is second string for Olly Murphy behind the selection, he can run well.
1.20: Two-and-a-half-mile maiden hurdle
Karaka De Thaix made a very promising start in points when winning a maiden at Charm Park by four lengths, and has since joined Paul Nicholls for £135,000. He returns from a lengthy absence, but there is plenty to like about his profile and he looks an interesting recruit for hurdles.
Debrave Soldier was runner-up, beaten six lengths, in a point maiden at Dromahane on his only start, and has also joined a leading yard for £115,000. Olly Murphy won this race last year and is in good form, so he looks a major player on his rules debut.
Titi Montmartre also made a winning start in a point maiden at Alnwick, scoring by four lengths. The form is modest, but he is likely to have more to offer under rules and could get involved.
1.52: Three-mile handicap hurdle
Sparkling Duke ended last season thriving, winning a handicap here by half a length off a 6lb lower mark. He won fresh last year and is bidding for a hat-trick, so he looks capable of going well again.
Blue In The West ran to form when third in a handicap hurdle at Warwick last time, despite flattening out after a late error. He opened his account at Exeter three starts ago and remains on a competitive mark on his return.
Stratton Oakmont was pulled up after losing his action at Exeter last time, but is worth another chance on his reappearance. He won fresh last year, wears first-time cheekpieces and has a notable booking in Harry Cobden.
2.27: Two-and-a-half-mile novices’ handicap hurdle
Bound For Glory has been consistent over hurdles, and ran to form when second, beaten two lengths, at Chepstow last time off a 3lb lower mark. He made mistakes, was still green and hung in the finish, so there is scope for improvement and he looks ready to get his head in front.
Corner Forward showed improved form when third in a handicap hurdle here last time, beaten five and a half lengths but doing his best work late on. He looks the type to improve for this step up in trip and represents an in-form yard.
Built By Rossies showed a better effort when third in a maiden hurdle at Market Rasen last time, although she was flattered by the 31-length margin. She has since joined Olly Murphy and could fare better in handicap company, if ready after a lengthy absence.
3.02: Two-mile bumper
Little Patience made a very promising start when winning a maiden point at Borris House by six lengths, and is an interesting recruit for rules. A half-brother to Diamonds Of Luck, he represents a top yard in Dan Skelton and could make an immediate impact.
Lancelot Du Large is another appealing newcomer, having cost £140,000 after winning a maiden point at Knockanohill by two and a half lengths. He has joined Paul Nicholls and looks capable of going well first time out.
Litaque built on a promising debut when second, beaten two and a half lengths, in a maiden bumper at Market Rasen last time. A point winner, he should go close again if he builds on that effort.
3.37: Three-mile handicap chase
Galway Reel is progressive in both spheres, and improved again when landing a handicap hurdle by a length and a half at Market Rasen last time off a 5lb lower mark. With Bowen booked, he remains fairly treated over hurdles and fences and can complete a cross-sphere hat-trick back over the bigger obstacles.
Impatient was below form when a distant fourth in a handicap chase at Catterick last time, but had been in good form before that. He is worth another chance after an absence and can run well fresh.
Solar System travelled well but found less than looked likely when comfortably held in a handicap chase at Haydock last time. He was a close third on his chasing debut two starts ago, so could have more to offer over staying trips, and is interesting dropping in class on his reappearance.
4.12: Two-mile handicap chase
Pure Carbon produced his best effort yet when landing a handicap by a length and a half at Stratford last time off a 4lb lower mark. He is a progressive chaser and should go well again on his reappearance.
Rula Bula unseated her rider early at Chepstow last time, but had made a promising start over fences when second, beaten less than two lengths, on her previous outing. She can bounce back if she puts that mishap behind her.
Centara ran to his current level when fourth, beaten 15 lengths, in a handicap chase at Newton Abbot last time. He has been below his best, but has dropped to 11lb below his last winning mark and could be worth another chance.
