The Swans had looked set to make it seven points from nine before the international break after defending resolutely against the promotion favourites and would also craft a handful of clear chances.
Liam Cullen seeing a header cleared off the line while Florian Bianchini would spawn a golden opportunity late on.
Lawrence Vigouroux once again would be outstanding in the Swansea goal making a string of high quality saves, with centre-half pairing Ben Cabango and Harry Darling dominant once again at the heart of defense to fend off the Clarets attack.
Deep into stoppage-time, however, referee David Webb adjudged that Matt Grimes had handled in a scramble after a Burnley free-kick. Veteran Forward Jay Rodriguez would then make no mistake from the spot to hand the home side the three points and end a run of four games without a win for the Clarets, much to the frustration of the Swans boss.

“I thought the performance probably warranted a point and the manner of course that we lost was really difficult to accept,” said Williams.
“It was a tough game, but I think we held our own and we made it fairly tough for them as well.
“I am a long way from the action and I don’t have a very good view [of the penalty decision]. There were a lot of people in the box competing for the ball.
“There’s nothing I can do about it even if it’s not a penalty.
“I am not sure the opposition appealed for it too much. I don’t know. It’s very disappointing.
“We had one off the line and then there was a great save [from Lawrence Vigouroux]. It’s very, very difficult to accept.
“I thought though they were fantastic and I think the fans appreciated the performance from the players, although I know they will be as gutted as we are.
“I think they saw a team that was motivated and organised, and they are the important things they have to see because they have come a very long way to watch us try and win a game and I am sure they would have recognised that in the performance.”
