Birds Eye have issued a food safety recall of their Original 4 Beef Quarter Pounders with Onion because they may contain small pieces of red plastic, which makes them unsafe to eat.

The affected batch was only sold at Asda stores in the South West England and South Wales.

The products affected by the recall have a batch code of L2343DB124 and a best before date of March 2024.

No other batch codes, retail outlets or other Birds Eye products are affected.

In a statement Birds Eye have apologised for any inconvenience caused.

Birds Eye said: “If you have purchased 4 x Birds Eye Beef Quarter Pounders with Onions 454g from an ASDA store in the named locations, with the above batch code, please do not consume.

“Instead, please take a photo of the packaging which shows the impacted batch code and send this, with your name, address and contact details to us via www.birdseye.co.uk/contact-us
