A murder investigation has been launched after a 60-year-old woman was found dead at a property on Llandeilo Road in Cross Hands.
Dyfed-Powys Police said officers were called at around 7.10pm on Friday 14 August by the Welsh Ambulance Service.
The woman’s death is being treated as suspicious, and an investigation has been launched to determine the circumstances.
A 63-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and has since been bailed.
The woman’s next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
Detective Chief Inspector Rebecca Thomas said her thoughts were with the family “at this very difficult time”.
She said officers had been carrying out enquiries in the area, and acknowledged that this may have caused concern locally.
“This is an isolated incident, with no wider concern for the safety of the public,” she said. “The local community will continue to see an increased officer presence whilst our investigation is underway.”
