Read on for a preview of and tips for the Ffos Las card, courtesy of Boyle Sports, who have all the horse racing odds.
2.37 – Six-furlong handicap
This can be fought out by the pair of last time out winners Laylaty and Downonmainstreet. The former’s handicap debut victory has been boosted and she’s only four pounds higher so has to be respected and is marginally preferred to the latter.
Her penultimate placed effort has been franked and she is potentially thrown in on her handicap debut judged on her cosy all the way win last time. The longer trip is no issue and she should be tough to peg back on favourable fast ground.
Course winner Tango Hotel arrives in form having proven her stamina for 6f and her ability on fast ground last time so is feared.
3.07 – Six-furlong maiden stakes
War Gaming was a shade disappointing last time in the first time blinkers but they are replaced with the cheekpieces which served him well previously. His earlier form sets the standard and has been franked several times so with Rossa Ryan booked he holds leading claims.
The selection, though, goes with Tumishi has shaped well on both starts so far and should find this easier than his latest assignment. He looks the obvious danger ahead of expensive purchase Duchess Of Immatin who starts out for a yard which gets plenty of debut winners.
3.37 – Six-furlong classified stakes
Mayflower Rock has been inconsistent in her short career but holds strong claims based on her podium finish in a similar event on her penultimate start. She was given too much to do when returned to this distance last time but can make amends if ridden more positively.
Sundiata Keita is yet to win but he was running well until his latest outing where he was slow out of the stalls. If breaking on terms he can chase the selection home ahead of Macarone who is a fairly consistent sort who goes well at this track and possibly just needs some luck.
4.07 – Two-mile handicap
All of the field can be given a chance here but narrow preference is for Last Flight who has been steadily progressing since going handicapping. She proved her stamina for two mile last time when given too much to do, and is fancied to build on that off just one pound higher if ridden more positively.
The consistent Lusaka is on a workable mark and his latest run has been boosted. That effort is worth marking up as he set the race up for the others and he holds strong claims here.
Sneaky Blinder is also of interest at a bigger price with Rossa Ryan booked. His last run is worth ignoring as he was eased off once beaten and he is now just 1lb above his last winning mark.
4.37 – One-mile- four- furlong Classified Stakes
Blue Hercules has an experience edge and just about sets the standard on form. He was a touch too keen last time but this is easier and a repeat of most of his handicap form would be enough.
The most interesting opposition if definitely Winday who placed over nine furlongs last year in Ireland. He has run some big races over hurdles at high levels in France since and now steps up in trip on his debut for his shrewd yard.
He can pose the biggest challenge ahead of Neswick who has ran well on both starts on the all-weather while shaping as if in need of this extra distance.
5.07 – One-mile– two- furlong handicap
Grand Pier wouldn’t want the ground to quicken up too much but there is plenty of rain in the forecast so he is chosen to go a place better than last time. He proved his stamina for ten furlongs that day when chasing home a progressive rival and looks well treated off just two pound higher.
The admirably consistent Takeitorleaveit has proven versatile ground wise over eight/ten furlongs and chased home an unexposed sort last time.
Racing off the same mark here he looks the chief threat along with veteran Fast Steps who will appreciate the drop in trip. The top weight has plummeted down the weights of late despite being in fair form over the summer.
