2.48 – Two-mile Handicap Hurdle
Berkshire Smudge left his previous form behind on his final qualifying run, and a repeat of that should be enough to make a winning handicap debut. He’s already a Flat winner at this venue, and the jockey booking of home favourite Sean Bowen suggests a big run is expected.
Collanisi is another who showed improved form last time and is expected to progress again now handicapping. He can fill the places with Uncle Remus, who is well treated on his bumper win, but may need this run after a break.
3.18 – Two-and-a-half‑mile Novice Hurdle
Dual bumper winner Getaway Vic is an interesting contender on his hurdles debut on his return from a long lay off. The point winner should appreciate this longer trip, but he is likely to need the run and may struggle to defeat Fairye Forth.
Also successful in points, he sets the standard on his recent runner-up effort in a much stronger contest than this over C&D. A repeat of that should be more than enough to get off the mark here to give Bowen a quick-fire double. Kind Intention proved consistent in bumpers and may complete the tricast here.
3.48 – Three‑mile Novice Handicap Hurdle
Les’s Destiny Star hasn’t added to his debut bumper win, but he hinted that he was ready to strike again when placing last time on his first start after a wind op for the successful Ben Jones/Ben Pauling stable.
He’s entitled to come on for that run and remains unexposed at 3m, so is chosen ahead of Star Turn, who ran a huge race on his return from a long lay off last time.
If he avoids the bounce, he can fill the places with Hillwalk, who was only beaten by a progressive rival on his handicap debut.
4.18 – Three-mile Handicap Chase
Copshill Lad has won 50% of his races over fences and can improve on that record further here. He beat an in form rival last time and a 4lb rise looks lenient with the drying ground in his favour.
Buckna is probably high enough in the weights, but he returned to form when placed last time and could gain some minor honours once again.
But Hell Hound is the choice after having plenty in the tank when off the mark over fences last time and should remain competitive despite a 6lb rise.
4.48 – Two-and-a-half-mile Handicap Hurdle
A chance is taken on the consistent Lion Of The Desert, who gained a deserved first victory over C&D last time. He is fancied to get the better of Mancero, who he defeated on that day, remains on a fair mark judged on his French form, so also rates a threat.
If conditions remain good, Bells of United will also command plenty of respect.
5.22 – Two‑and-a-half mile Handicap Chase
The form of Loki’s Mischief’s debut runner-up effort has been boosted by the winner, so he is fancied to go a place better off an unchanged mark here. The slightly longer trip should suit, and he’s proven himself versatile ground-wise.
Last time out winner L’Empire Vert remains well treated on his old French form, so looks the obvious danger, while chase debutant Jack’s Jury is also respected. He’s a recent hurdles winner at this venue, and the ex-pointer should have more to offer in this discipline.
