HENDY: Man summoned to court over death of cyclist Alice Smith

A man has been summoned to court following the fatal collision that killed cyclist Alice Smith on the B4306 between Hendy and Llannon in March 2024.

Connor Clive Rees, 22, of Bancffosfelen, Llanelli, will face a charge of causing death by dangerous driving.

He is due to appear at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 3 September.

Alice Smith, 31, was cycling along the B4306 near Hendy on Saturday 9 March 2024 when she was involved in a collision with a red Seat Ibiza. She died at the scene.

Her family said at the time that she was training for a triathlon in Barcelona and was on her way to Llangyndeyrn when she died.

“Alice was happiest amongst her close friends, work colleagues and her horse-riding circle,” they said in tribute. “She always had a smile and a kind word for everyone she met.”
