Major changes to university and park and ride bus services in Swansea announced

Bus operator, First Cymru have announced major changes to its university and park & ride services in Swansea from Sunday 11 June.

All of its existing university services – numbers 8, 8A, 9, 10 and 10A will be withdrawn from Sunday 11 June.

First Cymru say that a new network of services will be announced in time for the September academic year.

In the meantime a new hourly service 90 has been announced that will serve a circular route from Swansea University’s Bay Campus along Fabian Way to Sainsbury’s and the city’s bus station, before heading to Christina Street, Swansea’s train station, St David’s Student accommodation on The Strand and back to the Bay Campus. This service will operate hourly Monday to Friday during the University Holiday period.

People who want to travel to the University’s Singleton Campus are being advised to use services 2A, 3A, 4 or 4A instead.

Those travelling from Sketty and Uplands are advised to use services 20, 20A, 21 or 23.

A new service PR1 will replace the Fabian Way Park & Ride to Swansea Bus Station section of the service 9, with buses running every 15 minutes from 7am until 7pm from Monday to Saturday.

  • all i want to do is get a bus from sketty to the train station without having to spend more money on an all day ticket that ill only use to get to the train station when there was a perfectly fine bus running that rout that people would use. i
