Ospreys announce signing of wing Kasende

The Ospreys have signed explosive South African wing Daniel Kasende on a permanent basis from Toyota Cheetahs.

Having spent the last campaign on loan from the South African region, 29-year-old Kasende will link up with Toby Booth’s side permanently in October.

Born in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Kasende played his first game for the Cheetahs against Western Province in 2021. He was also part of the Cheetahs side that won the Currie Cup in 2023.

Having quickly established himself as a fans favourite last season the move of the man known as ‘the postman’, coined for the ability to deliver when it matters will no doubt be a popular move with the Ospreys fanbase.

Speaking on the move, Kasende said:

“I’m excited to be re-joining the Ospreys. Even from the brief time I spent at the club, it was easy to see that there’s a great setup there, with quality coaches and players.

“I really enjoyed my time at the club last season and l’m looking forward to joining up with the boys again and pushing on this season.”

Head Coach, Toby Booth, added:

“Dan made a really good impression on the coaching staff when he came in on loan from the Cheetahs last season. He’s an exciting player that has the ability to get fans off their seats.

“Dan integrated seamlessly into the squad last time he was here and offers us some quality depth on the wing.”
