It is now three wins in a row for the west Wallians who move up to fifth place in the table after tries from Tom Rogers, Macs Page, Blair Murray and captain Josh Macleod sealed maximum points.
It would not be a perfect performance from Peel’s side who’s sluggish first half performance saw Swansea-born wing Ben Cambriani gather a cross-field kick to go over and give the visitors a surprise lead.
The Scarlets attacking wheels, however, would start to kick in to motion as the half would wear on. After a flowing move involving player of the match Eddie James and Taine Plumtree the latter would release Rogers to sprint over into the corner.
Peel’s side wouldn’t look back, and after the break would kick on. Highly rated centre Page’s solo effort putting breathing space on the scoreline, before man of the moment Murray would finish the game as a contest.
The new Wales call up darting through after Plumtree would show his class with a strong line break.
The icing was then put on the performance with a fourth as a disheartened Zebre would fail to deal with power of the Scarlets driving maul. A beaming Macleod wriggling through to seal a bonus point and wrap the block in style for a delighted Peel.
“I’m obviously delighted with the result, I would have taken that this morning definitely”, said Peel following the win.
“Last week was a big game, and we started with tired bodies. We did though apply ourselves well and fair play to Zebre they made things difficult, but I thought we were guilty of our own errors as well.
“Everyone was so frustrated, there were so many unforced errors, we had 11 turnovers in the first half and every time we got behind them, we were careless with the ball.
“We were turning some good counter attacking opportunities into line breaks, we just didn’t finish.
“I didn’t really need to say too much [at half time], I felt we needed to get some energy, we felt we could get them on the counter attack and scored two early tries.
“We felt like we could pressurise them in defence and play in their areas. We knew that they are a team that doesn’t kick too much.
“It is all about the execution then and we had two nice tries to start the second half.
“Last season we didn’t compete as hard as we wanted to in certain games. That was our big focus going into this season.
“I felt we have got better; we were disappointed with the narrow losses, but I felt we were right in there as a team in the fight.
“It was trying to build on that and then the results look after themselves. For us, it is about working hard and trying to compete in every game we play.
“We have a couple of weeks off now to work on our game. The boys will have a bit of a break this week and then back for three weeks of training ready for Glasgow.”
