The development would be accessed from both High Street and Woodville Street in the town. Walking and cycling routes would also be provided from the development.
Woodville Street, along the eastern boundary of the development site would also see improvements, creating “a vibrant and inviting green street that seamlessly links the new and existing community” according to planning documents.
The application is by South Wales based civil engineering company, Walters Group who started demolition works on the former steelworks in October 2023.
The site is allocated for housing in the council’s Local Development Plan as a strategic housing site. Swansea Council’s planning department will now consider the application.
Proposals for a further 500 homes nearby by national house builder Persimmon Homes on land south of Glanffrwd Road will also shortly go before city planners.
