As part of her school holiday checklist, Matilda served customers who got to try her home-made lemonade, raising £112 in total. Showing maturity beyond her years, Matilda chose to donate her earnings to Many Tears Animal Rescue, a cause close to her heart as an animal lover.
Hayley Morgan, Matilda’s grandmother, said:
“We’re so proud of Matilda. She’s always been an animal lover, and to see her come up with this idea and make it happen was just wonderful. She put her heart into it, and our customers loved her energy.”
Councillor John Spanswick, Leader of Bridgend County Borough Council, said:
“Matilda has done such a wonderful thing in her community and to see her donate the money she’s raised from her lemonade stall to charity is nothing short of heart-warming.
“Seeing the response to her stand from Maesteg residents has been wonderful, and for her to be this determined and spirited at her age is incredibly inspiring. We can all learn a thing or two from Matilda.”
Dubbed a budding entrepreneur by her family, Matilda’s efforts captured the imagination of customers, who praised both her community spirit and her business sense. Many remarked that her enthusiasm and generosity were just as refreshing as the lemonade itself.
While Bridgend Council may have a successful pop-up space in Maesteg with For a Limited Time…Only?, Matilda proved that even the smallest of pop-ups can make a big impact.
