The 22-year-old, currently on loan at Portuguese top-flight side Estrela da Amadora from parent club Gremio Anapolis is thought to be in discussions with the Championship club.

Ronald is thought to offer raw pace, athleticism and skill, offering the Swans a genuine match-winner in the final third.

Luke Williams’ side have been searching for a creative attacker since the window has opened. Since the season-ending achilles injury to Josh Ginnelly in September the club have been left desperately short of options in the wide areas.

This limited the options to both former head-coach Michael Duff and now Williams who have been often relied on the creativity of the likes of wing-back’s Josh Key and Josh Tymon to springboard the Welsh side’s attacking threat.

Former Crystal Palace and Everton winger Yannick Bolasie spent the last three months on a short-term contract at the Swansea.com Stadium to offer a differential. However, the Congo international’s temporary deal finished after the Swans 5-0 defeat to Bournemouth on Thursday evening.

It is thought the club would like to keep Bolasie, but with other offers laid on the table, it is unknown whether the defeat against the Cherries is the last game the 34-year-old will likely play in black and white.

Chairman Andy Coleman has said Swansea will analyse data on players from around the world as part of their recruitment policy since he took up his post last May and it looks in Ronald they may have found their man.

Swansea’s recruitment team, led by sporting director Paul Watson, identified the Brazilian as a player capable of making an impact in the Championship with the wide man’s Samba flair likely to go down well with the home faithful.
