Dion Dublin says the "most chilled man in the world" could settle Swansea's title nerves, and reckons a Snoop appearance or two might help the Swans reach the Premier League.

Dion Dublin wants Snoop Dogg flown in to take Swansea City’s team talks, insisting the rapper could calm the Swans all the way to a Championship title.

The hip-hop star’s Swansea ties run deep: he is a minority co-owner of the club, part of a celebrity investor roster that also includes Martha Stewart, and Dublin pointedly calls the Swans “your club”.

His Death Row Records label fronted the Swans’ shirt for the summer’s Austria tour, and Snoop has said that if he ever moved to Europe it would be to Swansea, a “proper working-class city” whose fans are “my people”.

And with the unbeaten start ending at Southampton this week, the former Manchester United, Coventry City and Aston Villa striker reckons the calmest man in music is what the title race requires.

“Snoop Dogg can settle down Swansea City’s nerves and make them Championship title winners if he starts taking the team talks,” said Dublin.

“Swansea need to fly Snoop Dogg over to speak to the players because he’s a person who just cannot get any calmer. He’s the most chilled man in the world.

“I’ve been in his company, and I know exactly what he’s like, and he does love his football as well. I know he’s been to games over here before.”

He has indeed. Snoop’s first stadium visit came in the spring, complete with a pitch-side lap of honour during a draw with Preston North End and club-produced Snoop-themed towels to mark the day.

He has since unveiled a ten-year plan to make Swansea “the Vegas of Wales”, promising to “pull some strings” so global stars stop skipping the city on their world tours.

‘They bring that extra pizzazz’

Dublin sees only good in the celebrity arrivals reshaping the Championship, days after Hollywood-owned Wrexham left the Swansea.com Stadium with a point.

“There are no negatives at all to seeing people like Hugh Jackman, Rob McElhenney, and Ryan Reynolds or Snoop Dogg coming into our game and enjoying the world of football, none at all. I really can’t see a problem. They bring that extra pizzazz, and I think it’s brilliant.

“People are going to come and take an interest because of them, and that means the clubs are going to bring in new revenues, and that can mean the local shops and restaurants and businesses are going to get more people through the door.”

‘You might help your club’

Dublin is not even the first former striker to bet on the Snoop effect, Fernando Llorente saying in the spring he hoped the co-owner could help build “a great team” and take the Swans back to the Premier League.

And Dublin signed off with a message for the man himself.

“I’m telling you, Snoop. Get yourself down to Swansea, son! You might help your club get into the Premier League if you start coming to games more.”

The Swans, celebrity team talk or not, return home to face Burnley on Saturday (3pm kick-off).

Dion Dublin was speaking in association with Reviant.
