After undergoing a medical at the clubs Fairwood base, the 34-year-old former Crystal Palace speedster will go into Swans head-coach Michael Duff’s squad to face Leeds United at Elland Road on Wednesday evening.

It is understood that Bolasie has signed a short-term deal after his departure from Turkish side Caykur Rizespor and will wear the Swans number 17 shirt

Bolasie’s experience will be invaluable for the Swans young squad having played in both the Premier League and the Football League for various sides including Everton who outlaid a fee of £25 million for his signature, Aston Villa and Middlesbrough after first making his name in the Championship for Plymouth Argyle.

It will be his time at Selhurst Park with Crystal Palace where the Congo international will be most remembered.

In a successful four-year stint, Bolasie found the net 13 times in 144 appearances as part of the Eagles Championship promotion-winning side of 2013 and was part of the losing FA Cup final side of 2016 before moving to Goodison Park as a big-name signing that summer.

In more recent times Bolasie has plied his trade in Turkey since 2021 where he helped Rizespor to promotion to the Turkish top-flight contributing 19 goals in 53 appearances in a two-year spell.

“Yannick’s been in the building for a week. He’s been in, he’s looked good,” said head coach Michael Duff.

“It’ll be a two-month deal and we’ll see how it goes from there. We need bodies in the building, we need help. We’re not in a position where we can cherry-pick the exact player we want.

“He hasn’t got the pace and power he once had, but you don’t get bought for £25m if you don’t know how to handle a football.

“He can play in any one of those front-four positions. He just gives us a few more variations.”
