Swansea City have finished their transfer window by signing the teenager who tormented them last season.
Jeremy Monga, the 17-year-old Manchester City winger, joins the Swans on loan for the rest of the season and will wear the number 12 shirt.
Supporters have seen his talent up close: an eye-catching display helped Leicester to a 3-1 win at the Swansea.com Stadium last term, form that earned him a summer move to the Etihad reported to be worth £10m.
One formality stands between Monga and a debut. Because he is under 18 and the loan crosses from England to Wales, FIFA treats the move as an international transfer, so he needs a minors exemption from football’s world governing body before he can play.
His CV is remarkable for his age. Monga made his Premier League debut for Leicester against Newcastle in April 2025 at 15 years and 271 days old, the third-youngest player to appear in the competition, and already has 34 first-team appearances.
He started out at Coventry before joining Leicester in 2024, with regular Championship football following that top-flight debut.
Head coach Vitor Matos said the club had landed a rare talent. “Jeremy is a very exciting young player, one whose abilities are not common in players of his age,” he said.
“He has gained plenty of experience of first-team and Championship football, and has looked confident and shown an ability to effect games at this level.
“We are delighted he and Manchester City have chosen Swansea as the place where they feel he can continue to develop and improve, and we are eager to see what he brings to the group.”
Sporting director Ben Stevens called Monga “a highly talented winger with exciting ability on the ball, as demonstrated by Manchester City’s belief in his qualities”, adding: “We are all looking forward to seeing him contribute to our season and helping him fulfil his development potential.”
Monga was the only arrival of deadline day, capping a summer that brought Stephen Eustáquio, Jenson Seelt, Ross Stewart, Moussa Yeo, Joseph Opoku, Elijah Just, Stephen Welsh and Tiago Parente through the door.
The exits proved harder to close. Florian Bianchini left on loan for Clermont, but the two departures expected on deadline day both collapsed.
Ronald had been en route to London after Swansea agreed a fee, believed to be £2m, with Millwall for the Brazilian winger, only for the move to fall through, with Matos suggesting terms could not be agreed with the Lions.
Zeidane Inoussa, meanwhile, had been due to join Portsmouth on loan for the rest of the season before his departure was called off too.
If the clearance arrives in time, his first outing in white could come when Wrexham visit the Swansea.com Stadium on Saturday.
