Swansea’s free Christmas dinner for people who are homeless, on their own or struggling will be served at the Brangwyn Hall on Tuesday 1 December, ten years after the first one.
Together at Christmas offers a two-course Christmas dinner, company and help on the day. Around 5,000 meals have been served since it began, according to the council.
The event is run by JR Events & Catering. Swansea Council supports it, and last year’s dinner on 9 December ran from noon until 3pm; this year’s times have not yet been announced.
Haircuts, jabs and help with housing: what’s on offer at the Brangwyn Hall
Visitors will be able to get a free haircut from Lara Johnson Lifestyle and use a vaccination hub, the council says.
Swansea Veterans Hub, Faith in Families and The Wallich are among the support services on hand, with others offering help on homelessness, health and wellbeing.
Food and clothes banks will run as usual. Anyone donating items is asked to drop them at the Brangwyn Hall steps between 9am and 10am on the morning of the event, and to email hello@jr-eventgroup.co.uk in advance so organisers know what is coming.

Wanted: barbers, choirs and a photobooth
The volunteer rota for the day is full, organisers say, but they still want barbers, live festive entertainment from choirs, bands or singers, and a photobooth or similar “fun additions”.
Offers go to the same email address.
“Hard to believe”: Jess Rice on ten years of Together at Christmas
Jessica Rice, of JR Events & Catering, said: “It’s hard to believe that this year’s event marks 10 years since Together at Christmas first began.”
“What started as a simple idea has grown into something truly special, helping many thousands of people over the years,” she said, crediting the council, volunteers, local businesses, partner organisations and residents.
She said the aim this year was to make sure “everyone who attends feels valued, supported and part of the community”.

Council leader Rob Stewart called the tenth year “a fantastic milestone and a testament to the kindness and generosity that exists right across Swansea”.
“For many people, Christmas can be a difficult time and Together at Christmas shows what can be achieved when organisations, volunteers and local communities come together to help those who need it most,” he said.
Last month JR Group, the family firm behind the event, said it had given more than £250,000 to good causes over the years through fundraising, sponsorship, donations and in-kind support.
