A 37-year old man has been arrested and detained under the Mental Health Act after South Wales Police swooped on his property. It is believed samurai swords and air rifles were removed from his home in St. Nicholas Square after police were called to the property.
South Wales Police say they were called after reports of a man throwing items out of his window shortly after 8pm on Sunday, August 11. The force said that a man had been arrested on suspicion of affray, but was later detained under the Mental Health Act
Eyewitnesses describe a large police presence in the area made up of around two police cars and two police vans, with armed police also reportedly in attendance while the incident was ongoing.

A spokesperson for South Wales Police said:
“We were called to St. Nicholas Square, Maritime Quarter, Swansea shortly after 8pm on Sunday August 11 following a report of a man throwing items out of the window of his address.
“A 37-year-old man from the Maritime Quarter was arrested on suspicion of affray, but was later detained under the Mental Health Act.
“Officers removed air weapons and some samurai swords from the address. There were no injuries sustained during this incident.”
