With the nation hooked on the BBC show fronted by Claudia Winkleman, and as viewers return to the castle tonight for episode four, Gorton has stuck the knife into the current crop of players and delivered his verdict on the biggest twist in the game.

It comes after Swansea Bay News revealed Fiona had surged up early prediction charts, with fans increasingly convinced she could be hiding behind the cloak.

‘If I was Claudia, I would have picked Fiona’

Gorton — one of the most notorious Traitors ever to wear the cloak — said three women stand out as potential Secret Traitors, and Fiona is firmly among them.

Paul Gorton, speaking to 10bet Casino, said:

“I think it’s between three women, with two outstanding candidates: Amanda, Fiona and Ellie… If I was Claudia, I would have picked Fiona.”

He added that he would be “blown away” if the Secret Traitor turned out to be a man.

Paul Gorton said:

“I think it’s the best addition or twist to any show in the history of television… The Secret Traitor has put an extra 10 million people who have been watching at home right into it – it was a genius move.”

He said the twist has made the experience “more immersive than ever”.

Hugo “too big for his boots”, says Gorton

Gorton also dissected the downfall of Hugo, who was dramatically banished earlier in the series.

Paul Gorton said:

“He made a fatal error… That speech at the breakfast table sealed his fate. He went a bit too big for his boots too early.”

He said Hugo’s lack of early alliances made him an easy target.

Ross “looks like a maniac” — but could be a diversion

Gorton also weighed in on Ross, whose behaviour has sparked debate among fans.

He suggested the edit may be setting up a major twist.
